This Canadian Ammolite full fossil is just spectacular! This fossil measures 14 1/2 wide by 12" tall by 1.2" thick. It weighs 7 lbs 6.7oz. It has all of the colors of ammolite including quite a bit of the rare blue. This fossil does have some well done repairs on the back side.
Only in one small area of North America does one find this brilliant gemstone. Over millions of years, the nacre of the ammonite's shell has been transformed to take on this wild range of iridescent coloring. This specimen of Placenticeras meeki was collected by a Blackfoot Kainai band member. This specimen is registered with the Government of Canada and is signed by The Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology and left Canada with all the required permits and documentation.
